Wedding season is almost upon us and I believe that preparation is the key. When you have multiple weddings (5 in my case) with a cross over of guests you need to get creative to prevent over spending and buying things you can only wear once!
My top tips are:
- When you can, buy 2 pieces (a skirt and top instead of a dress) as then you can mix and match to your hearts content.
- If you do buy a dress then make it one that can be both dressed up and down depending on the occasion, this will help you get a better price per wear ratio as you will be more inclined to wear it over and over again!
- Don’t go for anything too ‘this season’. Every year things come in and go out of fashion and entering into this fast fashion cycle isn’t good for your pocket or the planet so buy things that you love because they are your style and not because all the celebs are wearing it.
Flowers and plants have been around so long they are a perennial favourite, so I’m not worried that the botanical trend will go out of fashion completely. Every year florals are a staple of the spring summer market so I have no doubt they will be returning in one form or another again this year.
This skirt is from LK.Bennet and I bought it during a sale last season and I think it was a really good buy as it can be worn with both a white and dark shirt and is a classic shape. For this look I decided to wear a black body suit which I bought cheaply at ASOS. It is a wrap around style with a V shaped neck line. I really like how the shirt is very fitted and hugs my limited curves allowing the skirt to float away from my waist quite elegantly.
This second look is more casual and it can be easily dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. This dress is from ASOS. I think its so pretty and feminine. The fabric is textured with the top half and waist detailing being see through. The bodice and skirt though has an underlay. The frills are so pretty but you do need to be careful to not catch them on any door handles or rings etc.
For this look I decided to go for an equally feminine hairstyle. These braids are inspired by a look that I found in Millie Mackintosh book ‘Made’. It is such a quick and easy look to create, so click here to try it out for yourself!
Excuse my RBF (Resting ‘..Bored..’ Face), sometimes when I’m caught off guard it happens…
The last look is probably my favourite and I have already worn it to a wedding last year! It is a simple black blouse tucked into a white midi skirt. The skirt is from H&M and it was around £50. The previous wedding I wore this outfit to was in the winter so I swapped out the sleeveless blouse for a black fine knit turtle neck. It kept me warm whilst still being a classic look. I LOVE this floral headband but I still haven’t been brave enough to wear it out and about (apart from taking these pictures!). I think it is a great alternative to a fascinator or hat. I know some Brides are not keen on hats etc. now and ban them entirely from their big day, but if you are one for tradition or need an alternative to a hat this is great! I bought this version from eBay I think and its just so pretty and delicate. I hope you have enjoyed this post.. Please comment below with any suggestions you may have and details of any of your favourite looks for weddings!!
